Growing From the Ground Up
Tyler Brown established TB Construction in 2013 as a one-man operation with just himself and an old tractor. Initially, Brown started the company to fix driveways around the Wellston, Oklahoma, area, but he never dreamed how much his little operation would take off as it expanded into additional services.
TB Construction now offers an array of services ranging from tree removal, tractor/dirt work and fence clearing to pond construction and debris removal throughout the state. Brown typically works alone, but for bigger jobs he occasionally calls on friends and a retired neighbor. In addition, Brown does contracted work with a land development company that keeps him busy. Every day is a little different; one day he is clearing timber, and the next day he is doing dirt work for new housing pads or driveways.
As the business started to heat up, Brown knew it was time to invest in another machine to take over for his aging tractor. With the biggest investment to date for his company, he knew he had to do some due diligence before he made any decisions on a new machine. So, he spent several months researching and reading stories to figure out what would suit him best. His biggest criteria were dependability and power, and after months of homework, Brown found them with the Takeuchi TL130 track loader.
“My track loader did an amazing job and it has a lot of power,” says Brown. “It is everything I would want in a machine; it is just great all-around. I have driven several different types of machines and I like the way the TL130 feels. I know the machine well, so with this job in particular, I knew how hard I could push it, so there were not many challenges. It did a great job of hauling the heavy stumps.”
TB Construction has made a lot of headway in only three years, but for a one-man operation, any downtime is incredibly costly. There certainly has not been a shortage of jobs for the young company, so for dependability, TB relies on Takeuchi and has never looked back. Every day is a different and new experience for Tyler Brown and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
